A Little Gem....
Perth born Gemma Ward, pictured here from a UK Vogue editorial, had dreams of one day becoming an actress.
All of that changed when, in 2002, she was spotted in the audience of Australian TV programme Search for a Supermodel.
She was quickly catapulted into the world of supermodels with none other than Anna Wintour backing her and has since gone on to represent the likes of Prada, Dior, Gucci, YSL, Balenciaga, Lanvin and Bulgari... just to name a few!
It seems there is no stopping this Australian gem...

A Writing Den....
What do you do when you have an awkward little area in your house?
Make it into a writing den of course! Well that's what I'd do.
While I've always imagined having a writing space with amazing ocean views I love the thought behind this. By using only white it makes it appear more spacious.
If this were mine though I doubt it would be kept so tidy...
And every writing den needs a desk - check out my pick of a desk below. It has a compartment for everything....
Lastly, an image I came across a while ago; because when you're finished in the writing den, you can retreat to the reading den!

A Scent for Summer....
Anyone who knows me well knows that I have a love for beautiful perfume. Recently I have been thinking about a new scent for spring / summer.
I absolutely love scented roses, especially towards the end of the day after they have been drenched in the warmth of the sun.
On my walk today I picked a soft pink rose out of someones garden (sorry) and it smells very similar to Paul Smith Rose....
And so it is....
I think I've found my pick for summer.
The scent is based on the Sir Paul Smith Rose, pictured below, which his wife had cultivated for him as a gift. Paul Smith used this rose as inspiration for the perfume which also combines Turkish rose and magnolia.

Z is for Zimmermann.....

I got my Scuba Diving Certificate as soon as I got to Western Australia. I love the ocean and I thought I had seen some pretty cool things but I would imagine that nothing could compare to moment like this - truly amazing.
I like to think the Whale and diver are about to high-five!

Words from a Songbird....
Songbird darling Boh Runga is soaring high as she goes from strength to strength - not just with her music but also with her jewellery designs.
The New Zealand born beauty began her jewellery creations with her Birdland collection - which was received so well she quickly followed it up with Messenger Stories. Since then she has been on a roll of success and has also created The Lotus and the Snowbird range and most recently The Tiger Collection.
While doing journalism I was lucky enough to chat to the lovely Boh a couple of times about her music and jewellery. She is now a bird of flight between New Zealand to see family and LA where she is based for her music and although she is all kinds of crazy busy, when I asked her if she'd like to feature on The Blue Room, she was kind enough to spare me some of her time. Shell - How would you describe the "Boh" girl?
Boh - The Boh girl or woman isn't necessarily someone who follows trends. I have different ranges that appeal to people from all walks of life.
Shell - What inspires you to create such amazing jewellery?
Boh - I'm a big accessories girl and I have been collecting jewellery for a long time now. I think about what I would like to wear and about what other people would like to wear. I'm glad that people enjoy wearing it!
Shell - As a young girl did you love jewellery?
Boh - Yes! Did I ever. I used to make bracelets for myself out of whatever was available. I also went through a phase of wearing more than one watch on my wrist. I don't even know what that was about!
Shell - What do you love most about living in LA these days?
Boh - The glorious weather, anonymity, Mexican food and the gigs that are happening all the time.
Shell - Have you had any pinch yourself moments there yet?
Boh - I met the guys from Kings of Leon, they are ridiculously handsome and uber indie chic. But meeting Slash and listening to his new album with him was a pretty odd moment. I put my two cents in about which songs I thought were singles. The first single off his solo album is the one I suggested, I'd love to think I had a part in choosing it but I strongly doubt it!
Shell - Here are some quick questions to finish off with. Your most treasured possession?
Boh - My family.
Shell - One thing you never leave the house without?
Boh - My phone.
Shell - Your favourite quote?
Boh - I can resist everything except temptation - Oscar Wilde.
Shell - Any tattoos? If so, what? If not, why?
Boh - I have asked my sisters to design a tattoo for me that represents my family....still waiting.
Shell - Heels or flats?
Boh - Heels. Always heels.
Shell - Bright red lips or dark smokey eyes?
Boh - Bright red lips. Faster to do in a hurry!
Shell - Song you are listening to at the moment?
Boh - Ellie Goulding's 'Starry Eyed'. Very cute and unusual.

Spotted....
Animal prints have walked right out of the heart of Africa and are prowling streets around the globe. Spots big and small are being seen on dresses, bags, scarves and coats. Whatever the season, there is a spot for every occasion.

Into the Blue - Back in the Day.....
The journey has been long but finally the car pulls up at a beautiful beach. It barely comes to a complete stop before you're out the door, the seasalt air instantly waking you up.
Towel in hand, you're clumsily running through the soft sand racing toward the ocean.
As your toes touch the first inch of water you slightly hesitate - it felt a bit chilly.
But you pretend it doesn't bother you anyway and through the breaking waves you run...
On the count of one, two, three -
And you're in.
Into the blue.....
